HCIM students celebrate another successful fall semester with the first ever student-run UX organization, UXTerps! Together, fellow HCIM students as well as undergraduates within the iSchool put together three fantastic events to share their talents and spread the word that good design matters!
After a successful first year that included highlights such as the first ever UXTerps Makeathon with sponsor, Proctor and Gamble, UXTerps continue to support fellow budding HCI enthusiasts to help them become UX designers and researchers. Fall semester brought many fantastic events including student-led workshops such as "How to Think Like a Designer" led by HCIM graduate students Jashan Gupta and Modassir Iqbal. In addition, Janki Desai, an HCIM graduate student who won a trip to the 2019 Facebook Design Summit, shared what she learned and put together a workshop for her peers called "Design Thinking Workshop: Adapted from the Facebook Summit."
This vibrant community allows students from across campus to come together to learn and celebrate UX design. Stay tuned to hear more about what the UXTerps have been up to and if you decide to become a Terp at UMD, we hope you become a UXTerp, too!
