Dr. Lazar, Associate Director of the Trace Center, a leading lab conducting groundbreaking research in accessibility, offered his students of the Fundamentals of HCI class the opportunity to meet the crew at UserWorks, a user experience design and usability engineering firm in Silver Spring Maryland. UserWorks provides services in user-centered design, accessibility remediation, and medical device standards to companies and organizations across the country.
Students had the exciting opportunity to see to learn and chat with Principal Usability Specialist and President of UserWorks, Dr. Dick Horst. Students also had the chance to see up close and personal how cutting edge usability labs are run. Dr. Lazar's students are now working directly with clients of their own, conducting usability and accessibility tests to improve digital products for clients such as the Baltimore Museum of Art and Code for America. These students are on a roll thanks to our faculty at UMD and our supportive friends in industry such as UserWorks!
