HCIM students reign supreme at Bitcamp 2018 Hackathon
Four HCIM students - Solace Arevalo Sabado, Vijit Bhati, Jessica Yuan and Raghav Karkera were very busy at last weekend's Bitcamp 2018 Hackathon and were awarded three grand prizes for designing - two awards for Best Designed Investor Education Product and Best Bitfolio - Bitcamp Design Trail.

Teams Finfree (Solace, Vijit, and Jessica) and Bono (Raghav and MIM student Jency Francis) both bagged the top awards for FINRA's Design Challenge. (FINRA is a not-for-profit organization authorized by Congress to protect America’s investors.) Additionally, Solace, Jessica, and Vijit won the award for Best Bitfolio. Bitcamp was a very large event, drawing around 1,000 students from all over the country and including sponsors such as Facebook, Microsoft, GitHub, Oculus (UMD's very own Brendan Iribe spoke). Many different prizes and awards were given. Details on the event are here:
Three other HCI students (James Chi, Kunal Eapen , and Parv Rustogi) joined Solace, Vijit, Jessica, and Raghav on the Design Trail, where they served as design mentors for all hackathon teams. In this role, they worked on logos, front-end design, and ideation for CS teams doing back-end development. Great representation, every one!
