Friday Forum is here! It's a chance for everyone to get to know our HCIM cohort. Catch up every week to learn about the diverse backgrounds that makeup UMD's HCIM. 

 

What year are you in the HCIM program?

I am a first year HCIM student. 

 

Where are you originally from?

I am from Bombay, India.

 

What was your undergraduate degree in?

My degree is in Information Technology.

 

Do you have an work experience ? If so, what did you do and for how long? 

I worked for one year at NSI Infinium as a Software engineer where I did hybrid as well as native iOS development.

 

Why did you choose UMD's HCIM program?

What attracted me to the HCIM program was all of the diverse and interesting projects that were taking place. 

 

What classes are you taking this semester?

I am taking Fundamentals of HCI, which is a core course, Interaction Design Methods, which is a very industry-oriented course, and Cyberpsychology, which is my research course.

 

What is your favorite class so far in the program?

My favorite class is Fundamentals of HCI by Jen Golbeck because I have had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects and ideas. Everything from usability studies to interface design to A/B testing.

 

What is one thing you wish you knew before coming to UMD?

It rains so much here!

 

After school, what is your dream job?

My dream job is to be a product designer. 

 

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can cook *well* and dance or both together.

 

What was the last TV show you watched?

I have been watching the anime Hunter x Hunter.

 

What is the last book you read?

Currently, I am reading Sherlock by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
