Upcoming Career Focused Events

September 29, 2016

Have you been wondering where to even begin the portfolio process? Or are you interested in networking a little more and exploring your options? Well, lucky for you there are many career-focused events that will be happening throughout this semester. Here is a quick rundown for all of them:

Portfolio Panel 9/29 @ 4—5:30 HBK 2116

How should my portfolio look? What should I include? What should I not include? All great questions that can be answered today from 4:00 to 5:30 in HBK 2116. Bring lots of questions. MIM and MLIS students are welcome to attend.

Resume & Interview Workshop 10/19 @ 4:30 - 6:30 PM McKeldin 6137

Have everything written up, but think you could use a second pair of eyes on your resume? Well, here is your chance to have a one-on-one review of your resume. Also included is a talk on how to make a great impression on your interview. We all get nervous, so be sure to attend this workshop to learn useful interview tips and practice your interview in this workshop. RSVP here.

Internship & Networking Fair Wednesday, 10/19 @ 4:30 - 6:30 PM McKeldin 6137

Here’s your chance to take all that you have learned and put it into practice! All you need to attend is a resume (no RSVP required). Partners and potential employers in attendance will be listed on the event page (including positions available, where provided) prior to the event so that you can come prepared!

Internship Search Strategies Panel 11/15 @ 5:00 - 5:45 PM, HBK 2116

A panel made up of actual HCIM students and former interns. Come and learn how last year’s class found their internships, and how they ended up getting them. Also, get a chance to ask them questions about their experiences. Please RSVP by 11/11.

We hope you will take advantage of these events. If you have additional questions, definitely don’t hesitate to reach out to Carlea at cholljen@umd.edu
